Splendid B&B Near Medieval Village
Placed on a 600 mt hill, the house is surrounded by almost uncontaminated nature, whose main colour is the intense green of woods that extend all around as far as the eye can see, and it enjoys a fine view. Being so close at hand, the woods allow trekking fans excellent walks or horse rides, mushroom-gathering excursions, while history lovers are prized with visits to the number of castles established in the area. The "Via Francigena", one of whose trails passes very close to our valley, allows interesting discoveries about the medieval world and way of living. Compiano town, considered as one of the most charming medieval hamlets in Italy, has an interesting story, which involve its castle, that was built by the Longobardi people, and that has a long historical tradition underscored by the succession of several noble lineages. Compiano is situated in the Alta Val di Taro, between Piacenza, Genova, La Spezia and Massa-Carrara counties. The Taro Valley, with its east-west orientation, enjoys a good sun exposure even during winter, and it's benefited by the sea wind coming from the close Ligure Sea. This climate benefit seems to be the reason why Val di Taro Porcino mushroom, which recently has earned IGP classification, has so high quality standards.
